All too often, learners are taught the long and short vowels and the learner then has no idea what to call words like: cord, far, bird, taller, dirt. Cole's biggest hit on the album: "Lost Ones" speaks upon his own experience with unexpected pregnancy. This story is told in both male and female perspectives, which is a road less traveled in the male dominated rap industry. Abortion becomes the focused topic in this situation, as the male perspective suggests a way out from a difficult unprepared life of parenting. The female perspective responds with a strong argument denying the proposed suggestion. The two perspectives never come to a level of understanding, and ultimately the relationship is torn. The woman's perspective on the subject is what truly grabbed my attention towards this song. A man's decision is usually the only valued voice in these life altering predicaments. The fact that the woman showed such homed determination and strength in her decision to live by her mistakes, spoke volumes to me. This sense of a strong woman going against the grain is something that hit's a level of sensitivity within myself. My younger sister at the age of sixteen faced this same fate, and in the same mindset was determined to make the best for the life she would soon bring into the world. In the first six lines the artist uses the word "you" at the end of each sentence to emphasize the pressures that are forced upon the woman. The word "we" is used to indicate that the speaker is understanding the responsibilities in the pregnancy itself "Frankly i'm feeling like we ain't ready"/ "We still kids ourself": "How we gon raise a kid by ourself?"/"Where the hell we gon live?" The tone is then shifted:"where am I going to get this money." This indicates that not all the responsibility is shared. He see's revenue to be his responsibility, and uses the burden to be an excuse for abortion. In the next five lines the artist compares himself with dead beats who couldn't handle the pressures of having a child at a young age. This comparison also opens up his proposal for abortion. In the last two lines of the first verse the artist concludes by asking: "So girl we got to think about how the options way out, what's the way out?" In these lines the man also understands the c hoice to abort is not his. The Entire next verse is the woman's response (In an angered tone) to her male counterparts statement. There is no rhetorical strategy in her statement, her response is pure emotion. With zero pause the woman runs through all the reasons she's not having an abortion. Starting off with a rebuttal to the end of the last verse letting the male know it's her choice and no one else's: "This my body, nigga, you ain't finna force shit!" she then faults the male for putting her in this predicament: "Knowing all the right things to say, I let you hit it raw, motherfucka." in this statment she puts blame on him from the beginning. Next the female justifies her decision in not to having an abortion in moral standpoint: "Tryna take away a life- is you god mothafucka?!" shortly after, she states: "This new life here I'ma love it." As the question of money was the turning point for the male, the concern of love was the turning point for the female narrator. The final verse tackles a general male perspective, speaking directly at the male, insisting: "Man, if that bitch really pregnant, tell her to get a abortion But what about your seed, nigga?" This line acts as the conclusion and problem as a whole, taking on another tone. Referring to the woman as a "bitch", When he previously spoke upon the female as"baby girl."drastically changing the tone of the relationship to anger. His conscious then states "Man these hoes be trappin nigga's, playin with niggas emotions like they some action figure." ultimately portraying females in general as manipulative. There are several reasons behind this achievement. The first is the inherent beauty and complexity of the novel. The twists, turns and fluctuations of fortune that comprise the plot are both original and engaging. The second most notable aspect of the novel is its authorship by a woman. Although originally published under a male pseudonym, it is evident to the scrupulous reader that the work is by a woman, as it contains numerous insights into female psychology. Finally, the novel is at once incisive and critical of the then existing social norms and customs, which were largely unfair to women and the underprivileged. Hence, Jane Eyre is a rich source of information on English society of early 19th century. It was an era when the industrial revolution was taking shape and having far-reaching impact on economic, social and cultural life. Bronte’s classic novel captures well a society caught in this transition. We can see how, despite fundamental changes to the organization of economic activity, social hierarchies (both within and outside the family) were holding on to status quo. Reading Jane Eyre in this backdrop offers the reader interesting perspectives on sociological issues facing the England of early 19th century. Jane Eyre belongs to the ‘bildungsroman’ (coming of age) literary genre, in that the story starts at Ms. Eyre’s youth and narrates her development and maturity into adulthood. The growth of Jane is physical, mental and spiritual. And it is this rounded development that is the key attraction in the novel. Otherwise, it might have easily turned out into a run-of-the-mill pulp romance fiction with no lasting value. One of the main issues that Jane Eyre is concerned with is gender relations. Recognized today as a pivotal feminist text, there are several symbolic as well as concrete forays into women’s issues. One of the most striking of these symbolisms is ‘the madwoman in the attic’, describing Mr. Rochester’s first wife who is mentally ill. It is through depictions of such social situations that the emancipative narrative strategies of the work come to light, whereby, the author both conceals and reveals social and psychological truth s about women’s lives. For example, â€Å"their anger at being treated as sexual objects in the marriage market, and, paradoxically, their overwhelming desire to love and be loved by men with whom they can never be equal.† (Griesinger, 2008, p.30) The case of the madwoman is a socio-literary strategy employed by other female authors of the time as well. This way, they were hinting at deeper meanings beneath surface designs that conceal or obscure such interpretations. Like Bronte’s madwoman, â€Å"these inaccessible meanings are locked up, as it were, in the â€Å"attic† of the text.† (Griesinger, 2008, p.30) It is for this rich social commentary that Jane Eyre continues to be studied by women in contemporary era. For example, the novel excels in its treatment of women’s issues, including women’s education, the plight of the governess, and equality in marriage. It should be remembered though, that while subtle feminist messages in the novel are lauded, there are more critical interpretations that question Bronte’s implicit acceptance of racism and imperialism, which are actually subversive to the feminist cause. Another interesting facet to Jane Eyre is its comment on spirituality and Christianity. Like many contemporary writers of hers, the salvation of the soul is one of the preoccupations of Bronte’s works. Her views on the subject varied from that of novelists like Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy and George Eliot, in that, she was not overtly critical of religious faith in general and the Christian doctrine in particular. During the Victorian era, evangelical Christianity was becoming an accepted form of religious propaganda. Based on what we can glean from Jane Eyre, it is clear that she was swayed by the evangelical movement to an extent. The Victorian era was a time when complex tensions existed â€Å"between Evangelical, Calvinist, and Methodist theologies that swept through and ultimately divided the established Church of England which Bronte loved†¦Gallagher is the first to identify Jane Eyre as a â€Å"Christian feminist bildungsroman†. Educators would know that Microsofts Bill Gates or Wal-Marts Sam Walton would not be around for another 500 years, but would students? There is recent research that suggests that many students in our middle schools, high schools, or  college would not question the information given about the life of this 15th Century explorer. After all, this website  looks  like a credible source! That is exactly the problem that the  Stanford History Education Group  (SHEG) discovered in a report titled  Evaluating Information: The Cornerstone of Civic Online Reasoning. This report released November 2016 tracked the research skills of students in middle, high school or college using a series of prompts. The study prototyped, field tested, and validated a bank of assessments that tap civic online reasoning. In truth, the  misinformation on the  AllAboutExplorers  website is intentional, and all of the misinformation on the site was created to serve  an important educational purpose-to better prepare students in intermediate and middle schools to understand how to research accurately and completely using evidence that is valid, timely, and relevant. The about page  on the site states: AllAboutExplorers  was developed by a group of teachers as a means of teaching students about the Internet. Although the Internet can be a tremendous resource for gathering information about a topic, we found that students often did not have the skills to discern useful information from worthless  data. The AllAboutExplorers  site was created in 2006 by educator Gerald Aungst,(  Supervisor of Gifted and Elementary Mathematics in the Cheltenham School District in Elkins Park, PA) and Lauren Zucker,(Library Media Specialist in Centennial School District). Their collaboration 10 years earlier confirms what the SHEG research has recently concluded, that most students cannot tell  good information from bad. Aungst and Zucker explain on the website that they created  AllAboutExplorers in order to develop a series of lessons for students in which we would demonstrate that just because it is out there for the searching does not mean it is  worthwhile. These educators wanted to make a point  about  finding useless information on a site that was designed to look believable. They note that  all of the Explorer biographies here are fictional and that they purposefully mixed facts with  inaccuracies, lies, and even downright absurdities.
